10 Anime characters that can control time (to a degree)

 Time is one of the fundamental forces of the universe. It is also of the strongest and is everchanging. Well… everchanging if you don’t have the ability to command it. Here are 10 characters that can control the power of time as they wish

10] Dio Brando [Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure]


Dio Brando is the main antagonist of both Part 1 and Part 3 of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. With his stand ‘the world’ Dio received the ability to stop time. By the end of part three, he could stop time for 9 seconds.

He mainly used this ability to confuse the opponent and perform sneak attacks while everyone but him are frozen in time. He also kept his stands ability on the down-low and only really pulled it out when he thought it would have a great impact in the fight

09] Natsuki Subaru [Re: ZERO]

Natsuki Subaru’s time-based abilities are interesting, to say the least. His power only triggers at the moment of his death and returns him to a prior set point fixed in time. While he may survive whatever kills him by going back in time, he still remembers the pain and trauma of whatever caused his ability to trigger.

08] Ultear Milkovich [FairyTail]

Ultear Milkovich in her time in the grimoire heart guild learned magic known as the ‘arc of time’. It is lost magic that allows the user to control the time of inorganic and non-sentient organic (eg: plants, trees). She does this by moving them either backwards or forwards in time, changing their condition.

Her greatest feat of time manipulation is when she reverted the entire world 60 seconds back in time and saved many people at the cost of her own age.

07] Kurumi Tokisaki [Date A Live]

Kurumi is a spirit that has powers based on the clock. She possesses the power for each number on the clock. These powers manifest as the twelve bullets used by her. She can accelerate time, slow it down, grant visions of the future, age targets, freeze time, heal, create clones and send people back in time, along with several other abilities

06] Barragan Louisenbairn [Bleach]



As the second Espada in Aizen's Arrancar army, Barragan personifies the concept of death by ageing. The grants him the ability Senescencia, which functions in two distinct ways

Barragan can either use it to slow down time for everyone but himself or he rapidly ages anything he touches. The second part of the ability was used by him to turn the bones in Sui-Feng’s arm brittle and shatter them with a little hit

Kiritsugu emiya is known as the magus killer in the moonlit world of nasuverse. He is one of the best mercenaries out there and is feared and hated all over the world

Kiritsugu uses a type of magecraft that inherited from his father and further modified to create his innate time control. It allows him to temporally speed up or slow down time around and inside his body

03] Hari Kurono [My Hero Academia]



Hari Kurono is the assistant of Kai Chisaki of the shie hassaikai and possesses a peculiar quirk.

When standing still, he can extend the three arrow-shaped strand of hair and when they come in contact with somebody, they slow down their targets

02] Whis [Dragon Ball Super]



Whis is an angel serving and teaching the god of destruction of the seventh universe named Beerus. One of his many abilities includes a form of time manipulation

According to Whis, he can reverse time around a target up to three minutes. This was seen when he reverted time around the entire earth to recreate it and bring everyone to life after it was destroyed by Frieza

01] Julius Novachrono [Black Clover]



Julius is the 28’th magic emperor of the clover kingdom’s magic knights and the former captain of the Grey Deer squad. He wields a coverless grimoire that allows him the use of time magic. He can accelerate, decelerate, stop, or even reverse the flow of time. He is also able to heal injuries by reversing the time on the wounds.
