Tony Starks greatest creation: the hologram armour!
Even if not everyone likes Iron Man, there is one thing about him that even his detractors cannot dispute: he is a creative genius. Tony Stark's hologram armour, one of the most potent and dynamic suits he has ever created, is the best example of this.
The Thirteenth Floor, a virtual refuge built as a home for artificial intelligences like Iron Man's AI aide Friday, was used to develop the hologram armour, also referred to as the virtual armour. It was powered by an entire world and was developed to prevent Tony Stark's adopted brother Arno from enslaving all of humanity. Unlike other Iron Man armour models, this one was made entirely of hard light holograms and parts of the armour would manifest when needed. When thruster jets were required, armoured legs became apparent, an armoured glove became visible when delivering a punch, and the other armoured body parts became visible when deflecting strikes.
The hologram replica, according to Tony, was his greatest creation, his magnum opus. Since it could materialise whatever weapon or equipment the wearer could envision, the true potential of its power was almost endless; hence, the only restrictions were those imposed by Starks imagination. As most fans are aware, Tony Stark is not only one of Marvel's top brains but also one of the most imaginative people on the planet, especially under duress.
The suit was powerful enough to easily rip Arno Stark's conventional Iron Man armour in half, but it could also be quickly outfitted with repulsor beams, unibeams, thrusters, and other standard Iron Man weapons. In addition, it could navigate and endure space's vacuum, defend against an overwhelming bombardment attack, and even develop an engaging artificial simulation. Its reign was short-lived, however, as Iron Man had to sacrifice it in order to lock his brother in an eternal computer simulation.
It is unfortunate that fans did not get to experience the full potential of Iron Man's most innovative and potent armour, and since it required an entire virtual world to operate, they should not anticipate seeing Tony wear it anytime soon. However, some readers have speculated that they might see Arno Stark's comeback courtesy to Mister Sinister in light of recent comic book hints. If that is the case, then perhaps Tony's hologram armour will appear again. Whatever transpires after that, it will be difficult to match the strength and overall grandeur of Iron Man's hologram armour.
